Inspired at a young age, I pursued a career in law enforcement where I continue to serve to date. I am committed to living a life of service and purpose. Through this, with more than 15 years as a police officer, I have developed a unique lens through which I am able to see the world. This unique worldview has captured the attention of those around me and I am often sought to consult on a wide variety of issues. These issues span many areas to include: policing, police training, juvenile alternatives, juvenile intervention, personal and professional image presentation, and much more. While I believe that organic approaches often go underutilized, I also recognize that applying unique and innovative thinking affords solutions that leave lasting footprints. When I’m not helping others, I enjoy an array of simple pleasures which include writing, movies, volunteer work, travel, skydiving, beaches, most types of music, the mountains, and doing just about anything with my family. I enjoy collaboration and look forward to meeting with you to learn how we can partner with you to help your goals become realized!

After teaching English and Spanish to 7th and 8th graders in Illinois, I moved to Indiana and began work as a paraeducator in special education.  I discovered my love for this field and pursued a Master’s degree to become certified.  Since graduating with my MS in 2012, I have worked in general education and special education classrooms that service a wide variety of students.  My most recent position allows me to work with students in grades 9 through 12.  Fostering students’ growth in their reading and writing skills while simultaneously preparing them for life after high school and helping them to become more well-rounded people has become an incredible joy in my life.

As an educator who has worked with students across a broad spectrum of abilities, I know that the best support comes when I get to know my students and their individual strengths, weaknesses, and interests.  Meeting each student where they are is an important aspect in being able to effectively increase their skills.

I currently work full-time as a teacher in a high ranking junior senior high school just a stone’s throw from a Big 10 University. In addition to teaching, I am the Junior Class co-sponsor, help to fundraise and plan for Prom, and work on the district’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. I accrued my experience as an educator in the Midwest working with 7th through 12th graders for the past 14 years. I hold a Master’s degree in Education and am licensed in English Language Arts and Special Education. When I am not working or cheering on my three children at their various events and activities, I enjoy reading psychological thrillers, watching movies, playing the piano, traveling to any location with beaches or mountains with my family, and volunteering with Hospice services through a local hospital. I look forward to hearing how I can help you make the next milestone of your educational journey a success!
